3rd Officer

We’re on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Third Officer to join our crew.

Job Description

- In emergencies, operate the ship’s communication equipment (GMDSS) according to the Master’s instruction and applicable regulations.
- Inspect and maintain the condition of the Safety, Security, Lifesaving and Oil-spill Pollution Prevention equipment and keep a good recording system for its maintenance, as well as ensure regular updates in AMOS.
- Update Emergency Plan and Station Bill Card for Fire and Abandon Ship, with approval from the Master.
- Participate, implement and follow up on the Safety, Security and Quality Management System.
- Conduct safety and security checks in accordance with the checklist provided by the Company in dealing with Illegal Drugs and Stowaways.
- Check gangway watchman and authorization of visitors, during the tour of duty.
- Assist the Chief Mate in cargo operation and act as Duty Officer in Port, ensuring safety on deck, mooring lines, gangway, parking and un-parking of Cranes.
- Receipt, safe handling, stowage and delivery of cargo, during the tour of the position’s duty.
- Perform safe Navigational Watch when at sea and Anchor Watch while at anchorage, observing international and national Rules of the Road.
- Assist the Second Officer in correcting Nautical Publications.
- Prepare the required Port Entry documents and assist the Master in clearing the vessel with the authorities.
- Coordinate with the Chief Cook in regular Provision Inventory and prepare corresponding Provision Account Reports and Requisitions as approved by the Master
- Prepare the Slop Chest account, inventory and requisitions.

We expect you to have at least one year of experience as a Third Officer or equivalent in international trade.
